Kay-Lee Simmers, a multifaceted filmmaker, embarked on her career  by conceptualising, shooting and editing short films, internet content, and music videos, gradually transitioning to producing and directing both long and short-form video projects. Rooted in Documentary Arts, her artistic endeavours revolve around unravelling the intricate and evolving identities and narratives of Africa. At the core of her filmmaking philosophy lies a belief in film as a conduit for exploring deeply personal stories and illuminating the ways collective memory shapes our individual identities. With an unwavering commitment to the art of storytelling, Kay-Lee embraces the transformative power of storytelling, viewing films as reflections of our times. Through her work, she aims to foster understanding, empathy, and dialogue, and she aspires to continue pushing boundaries and leaving a lasting impact on audiences worldwide.

She currently freelances as a Video Producer and Video Editor , and lectures Video and Photography, Applied Videography and Video Editing  to the next generation of South African filmmakers.
